Filter cleaning, with photos of what was inside.
The filter is where a dust storm ends up. We take it apart, clean every element, check for cracks and tears, and show you what we found.
- From $95 per cleaning
- Elements inspected for damage
- Clean starting pressure recorded

What happens during a filter cleaning?
- Pump shut off and tank pressure released safely
- Filter opened and elements or grids removed
- Each element rinsed from the top down
- Pleats, bands and manifolds checked for tears and cracks
- Tank o-ring cleaned and lubricated
- D.E. recharged to the manufacturer's amount
- System restarted and checked for leaks
- Clean pressure written on the report
How often should a filter be cleaned in Phoenix?
A good rule is to clean the filter when its pressure reads 8 to 10 psi above the clean starting pressure. That is why we log the pressure on every weekly report. The number tells you when, and a calendar only guesses.
In practice, most cartridge filters here need cleaning three or four times a year, and more often during the monsoon. One large dust storm can load a clean filter in a day.
A filter that is never cleaned makes the pump work harder, moves less water and lets algae start. A filter with a torn element sends dirt straight back to the pool. Both are cheap to prevent.

Filter cleaning, answered
The questions we hear most about this service.
How do I know which filter I have?
A cartridge filter is a tall tank with a clamp or locking ring. A D.E. filter has a backwash valve and uses white powder. A sand filter is a round tank with a valve on top or on the side. Send us a photo and we will tell you.
How long do cartridges last?
Three to five years for most pools here. Hard water and heavy dust shorten that. We tell you when the pleats are worn so you can plan the cost.
Is D.E. powder safe?
It should be handled with a mask and never dumped where it can blow around. Many Valley cities also have rules about where backwash water can go, so we collect and dispose of it properly.
Can you clean the filter on a regular weekly visit?
Yes. Weekly customers can add a cleaning to any visit, and we suggest one when the pressure log says it is time.
