Fernhollow is an independent dog and cat clinic in a green bungalow a few blocks from the Sellwood Bridge.

- 2012the year the clinic opened
- Two speciesdogs and cats, and only those
- Independentowned by the veterinarian who works here
Why does Fernhollow exist?
Maren Halvorsen spent ten years in emergency medicine before she opened Fernhollow in 2012. Most of what she saw on those nights had started days earlier as something small, with an owner who was not sure whether to call.
So the clinic was built around that question. A technician answers the phone. The site sorts the common signs into three speeds. Sick pets are seen the day you call.
Fernhollow is independent, and it sees dogs and cats only. Three people will know your pet by name.
How do you work?
Prices are written down first
The exam price is posted. Anything more gets a written estimate with a low and a high number.
A technician answers the phone
The person who picks up can tell a today problem from a this week problem, and will say which one yours is.
Cats and dogs wait apart
Cats have their own nook and a quiet exam room. Nervous dogs come in through the side door.
We say when it is not us
Emergencies after hours go to DoveLewis. Specialty surgery and cases beyond a general clinic are referred, with the records sent for you.
Who will see your pet?
Dr. Maren Halvorsen
Veterinarian and owner
Maren opened Fernhollow in 2012 after ten years in emergency medicine. She still takes the hard cases, and she writes down the price before any treatment starts.
Dr. Caleb Thornquist
Veterinarian
Caleb sees most of our cats and runs the dental suite. He keeps a second, quieter exam room for cats who would prefer to skip the lobby.
Junie Akana
Certified veterinary technician
Junie is the voice on the phone when you call worried. She has helped more Sellwood owners decide between tonight and tomorrow than anyone on staff.
Fictional people, written for this demo.
