A veterinarian near Eastmoreland

Eastmoreland is a short drive from our door, across McLoughlin. Its big trees and old gardens shape what we see in the pets that live there.

What should Eastmoreland pet owners know?

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden sits between Reed College and the Eastmoreland Golf Course, and leashed dogs are welcome there. It is one of the best walks in the city in April and May.

Rhododendrons and azaleas are toxic to dogs and cats if the leaves or flowers are chewed. Most pets leave them alone. Puppies and bored young dogs sometimes do not, and a dog that has chewed the leaves and is drooling or vomiting belongs on the red list.

Old trees also mean mushrooms once the fall rain starts. Clear the yard after the first wet week, and bring a photo if your dog eats one.
